Victoria's Country Fire Authority has officially rolled out a fleet of artificial-intelligence-equipped drones capable of patrolling vast tracts of bushland and identifying potential fire outbreaks within seconds.
The system, developed in partnership with a Melbourne-based startup, uses thermal imaging and predictive modeling to flag risks before human spotters could ever notice them. Early trials reportedly identified small spot fires up to forty minutes faster than traditional methods.

Firefighters on the ground describe the technology as a "force multiplier," allowing crews to be deployed with surgical precision rather than reactively responding to blazes already out of control.
Critics, however, have raised questions about data privacy and the long-term cost of maintaining such an extensive aerial network. The state government insists the savings in property and lives will far outweigh the investment.
